We had fun hanging out with once Hackney resident Maria Minerva on her mate’s rooftop. It’s a strictly non music geeky interview and she talks about things like life in Bushwick/NYC where she lives now, how she misses dancing to UK Bass, how to forced to switch from the Full English Breakfast to American Peanut Butter (loves it) and what’s up with “Her People” on FB.

We shot Von Haze at Electric Brixton last year. It turned out to be quite wacky awesome so the guys Von Haze asked us to do something with the recordings. Helga Wretman is presenting a video installation from her Fitness for Artists project: performances are superimposed over landscapes; packaged into objects and displayed within O-O to function as office equipment and decoration.

The compaction of work and home space is increasing. We continue the presentation of the ‘self in everyday life’ * as demand for personal branding and professionalism increases in the social realm. In this context Wretman’s project examines as to whether the main importance is the persona behind the work, or the work behind the persona. More so can you train both of these, becoming more efficient in both body and image?

‘In Sweden the thing in highest demand as a work benefit is not holidays or bonuses, but is Gym access. . . Now, the way we look and behave is just as important as the work we do. As artists, the line between what we are selling and what it is that brings people to your product is indistinguishable’ *

One of the clearest examples within our social fabric, that exemplifies the blurring of the line between work place and home space, is social networking online. It is one of the main tools we have for the construction and presentation of our image, or brand. It is in the context that Oliver Jennings examines the interbreeding between fitness and online personal branding.

Oliver Jennings’ video tells the story of two guys, Bruce and Dave. Bruce and Dave are bodybuilders who upload videos of themselves flexing.

‘Bruce also uploads chat videos, where he speaks to, “you guys” and updates on how his workouts have been going, what he has been up to, what has been happening with the weather, what has been happening in his local area. All fairly mundane subjects but you really do get to know the guy.

He also frequently mentions that if anyone is in the area then they should pop by and he’ll show them around.’ *

As Wretman provides a workout and describes our need for persona and body-as-brand, Jennings presents two individuals heavily using this language of self (body) branding online and how it becomes the catalyst for their relationship. The seemingly unavoidable and insistent presentation of a ‘perfect self’ seems like it is potentially our most productive vehicle for communicating to one another.

“Flash, we meet” is a short film produced by ASWESAW London based online documentary project’s Fashion Category. The film is promoting Lollipop Factory Budapest Local Fashion Design & Contemporary Art Space. A fashion film casted by young, creative friends of the shop instead of professional models. This attitude suits the brand’s unique and casual approach towards the industry. Lollipop Factory built up a strong following in the creative sector of the capital by organizing music events, exhibitions and by promoting young local designer’s work. The film has the vintage look and music to accompany the style of the eclectic merchandise and design of the shop. Shot on location inside the shop and around the area. A Budapest lazy summer day perfectly captured and edited to the highly emotional beats of 70’s/80’s classic soundtrack.

“The Rite of the Huntress Moon” is a Fashion Film directed by Boldizsár for ASWESAW London based online documentary project’s Fashion category. The film’s concept, mood, and choice of location and lighting was inspired by Mrs Herskin’s handmade leather dress. Also inspired by Dalma Berger’s individual look, movements and the music of Volkova Sisters. The footage shot and edited by Boldizsar, who creatively documented the performance arranged on location. Dalma’s presence brought a strong, characteristic and feminine character to life which looks like coming from a different era of mankind.

We headed down to Edinburgh Fringe this year to capture Temper Temper’s
fantastic performance merging theater with music and style. Big up
to artist singer Wendy Bevan and her super-stylish musicians
for this fantastic experience!

Orlando Harrison’s experimental performance feels, looks and sounds like we jump straight into an old William Gibson novel. It’s always annoying when you go to record a performance and the support is really good too but you have to save cards batteries hard drives etc.

TOY supported Death in Vegas at Electric Brixton. While preparing to the main act
we cold not resist to record a half song of their fantastic show.
